I am moving to Berlin for an unknown amount of time and won't be able to send out any orders for, say, six months. Sorry about that. Thanks for looking.

Kevin (10/10/08)"In this poster, a lush forest comes alive with writhing, pulsating lines that reveal beasts, creatures, and characters hidden amongst the undergrowth and timber. The otherworldly, primeval nature of the animated flora and fauna is underscored by the arrival of Luxury Planet Escape Pods and their grotesquely-cultured inhabitants." -printed matter

"A bearded mountain man is awoken by his cat and rises to greet the day by making a list of themes for mediation, from American faith to ZZ Top, to be considered in a textual and graphic stream of consciousness. In the serpentine unfolding of pages, a metaphysical atmosphere arises in with a mystical cast of characters. Thought bubbles snake from personified animals, spouting philosophical queries and statements like "If liberty means anything at all, it means the freedom to tell people what they don't want to hear." (G.O.)Energized lines activate the all-over compositions, which show moxie in their layered foreground and background elements that draw the viewer into a deliberation of cultural forces at play in America." -printed matter

Free-floating, wizzard-ish heads open this hilarious comic book with a circuitous discussion of the meaning of Time. Equally weighty topics concern the animals that populate the rest of the book. For example in "Chapter One: The Animals Speak Amongst Themselves," the bird asks, "Are numbers real?" and The Wise Dog answers, "They are useful but they are not real." Two giant creatures sitting cross-legged like two animate mountains in the sun ask each other, "Is there such a thing as too open minded?" "Too open minded for what?" Kevin Hooyman's intricate drawings of animals, people, plants and hybrid creatures come alive in his dense imaginary landscapes and in the abstract space of the page. Preternaturally curious (and articulate), everyone and everything contributes to the existential conversations swirling through the book in multi-layered word balloons." - printed matter

Printed with the show 'wildlife' in New York. I teamed up with 3 artist friends and we had this great show that openned the night it snowed 2 feet. The book was from the same pile of drawings the show came from. I used to just make these piles of quick drawings and stash them away in boxes and not really know what to do with them. I printed 100 of these books to give at least some of the little guys a bit of a life...
I love this book. I should reprint this. I was drawing with a super-loose energy back then. It seems impulsive. Originally I printed this for the show 'A Better World is Possible' in Mexico City. I picked my favorites from an installation of 500 drawings. None of my friends in NY saw the show so I made these and sort of handed them out...I can't remember if I sold any? I think so.
Yeah! This was kind of my first book! It is the first volume of my personal encyclopedia in which I draw and write about everything that begins with the letter 'A', (including proper nouns) only using what information is allready in my brain. (no looking stuff up) It was a giant pile of photocopies that kinko's bound together for about $20 so I only printed maybe 50. On the cover, one guys says to the other:"For your information..." and the other guy is thinking "oh good." Kind of funny...
PS If you are in Europe, try to order from Warp Records. They can ship from London and save EVERYONE money!
